Holt Lake covers 3,296 acres on the Black Warrior River and is located just north of Tuscaloosa. It is downstream from Bankhead Lake. There are six public facility areas with bank and boat access for anglers.
Holt is known for its largemouth and spotted bass fishing. Anglers fishing the riverine section of the lake mostly catch spotted bass. While the best fishing for largemouth, crappie, and bream is in creeks and shallow water sloughs.
In the tailwaters of the Bankhead Dam, anglers catch drum, various species of catfish, buffalo, hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, and spotted bass.
