Demopolis Lake covers 10,000 acres and is located near the City of Demopolis. It is the second largest lake in the Black Warrior-Tombigbee river system. The lake extends 48 miles upriver on the Black Warrior River and 53 miles up the Tombigee River.
There are numerous public access areas with bank and boat access.
Demopolis is best known for its excellent largemouth bass fishing. Crappie fishing is excellent along with good fishing for hybrid striped bass and bream.
The tailwater below Warrior Dam, which is upstream arm on the east side of the lake, is excellent for hybrid striped bass and catfish. The upstream tailwater area below the Gainesville Dam is also popular and offers fishing for catfish, drum, and hybrid striped bass.
