George W. Andrews Lake
George W. Andrews Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake south of Walter F. George Lake and north of Lake Seminole. The lake is a about 26 miles long and covers 1,540 acres. It is very riverine in nature but is noted for good fishing.
The purpose of the dam is for river navigation via the lock at George W. Andrews Dam. There is no hydroelectric generation at this location. The lake is named for George W. Andrews.
On the Alabama side, boat ramps are available at Franklin Landing, Abbe and Omussee creeks.
Angler’s are cautioned about discharges from the dams and to be aware of buoy lines below the dams and locks. Daily fluctuations range from a maximum of about 16 feet below Walter F. George Dam and up to eight feet below the Andrews Dam.
The nearest major city is Dothan.
