Located on the Tennessee River between Guntersville and Wilson lakes, Wheeler is Alabama’s second largest lake. The lake covers 68,300 acres, is 60 miles long and has 899 miles of shoreline.

Dam nearly to the I-65 Bridge. From there it widens and below Decatur spreads into creeks, stump flats and weed beds. The lower end has many steep banks and long points.
With largemouth being the predominate species, anglers on Wheeler also have an opportunity to catch smallmouth and spotted bass.
The lake also offers world-class fishing for blue catfish and produced a world record fish in 1996.
Bream and crappie fishing are also excellent as is fishing for hybrids, strips and white bass in spring.
