Wilson Lake

Located in northern Alabama near the towns of Florence and Muscle Shoals, Wilson Lake covers 15,500 acres and is 15 miles long. It has 150 miles of shoreline.

Since the lake’s position on the Tennessee River chain is  before Pickwick and third below Guntersville and Wheeler lakes, it’s not usually first on an anglers list of destinations to fish.

However, fishing for smallmouth in the tailwaters below Wheeler Dam in the spring and fall is as good as and sometimes better than the fishing on Pickwick.

Below the dam, anglers will also find hybrid and striped bass in the spring, sauger in the winter, and blue catfish and channel catfish during the summer. There is a fishing platform below the dam  for bank anglers.
