Fishing in Aliceville Lake
Aliceville Lake covers 8,300 acres and is located about 12 miles northwest of the City of Aliceville. The lake is formed by the Tom Bevill Lock and Dam southwest of Pickensville off Alabama State Highway 14.
Since the lake is located in both Alabama and Mississippi, it is popular with anglers from both states. Along with two public access areas, modern campgrounds, primitive camping areas, and day-use facilities are found around the lake.
Aliceville Lake is best known for its largemouth bass and crappie fishing. Crappie fishing is outstanding, and biologists report growth and recruitment are above statewide averages. Bluegill and shellcracker are abundant.
Additionally, Aliceville has an excellent tailwater fishery for catfish, crappie, bass, and drum. A fishing pier located below the dam provides an opportunity for anglers to fish the tailwaters.
